Every move in HexaSwap starts with two adjacent gems. You select one, swap it with its neighbor, and if the swap creates a row or column of three or more identical gems, those gems vanish and your score rises. A swap that produces no match does not stick, so the board only changes when you make a valid line. This single rule keeps the game readable from the first tap while still rewarding players who scan the grid before committing.
Why Position Matters
Where a match happens shapes what follows. Clearing gems near the bottom of the board lets the pieces above drop down, which can set up fresh matches without any extra input. That is the seed of a chain reaction: one well-placed swap removes a group, the board shifts, and a second or third group lines up on its own. Longer chains mean more points from a single move, so experienced players often work from the lower rows upward rather than grabbing the first match they see.
Reading the Board for Combos
Because there is no clock, the real challenge is pattern recognition. Before swapping, you can trace what will fall into the empty spaces and whether that movement creates another three-in-a-row. Players who pause to look two or three moves ahead tend to build the biggest cascades, while quick, casual swaps still clear gems and score. The gap between a careless move and a planned one is where the strategy tag comes from.
